In this four-day intensive workshop, Mark Andrews will teach you how to visually narrate powerfully from the very first image. You'll experience an immersive journey into the art of storytelling and storyboarding.
Voxel School, in collaboration with El Guiri Studios, led by acclaimed director and animator Rodrigo Blaas, is bringing Mark Andrews to Spain for the first time to share his vast experience. In addition, Rodrigo Blaas will give a lecture, and Mark Andrews will offer a masterclass on Storytelling and Virtual Production.

Storytelling Workshop
Knowledge-sharing (in-person/online)
In the mornings, Mark will conduct knowledge-sharing sessions, delving into the art of storytelling. He will explore key tools such as framing, rhythm, and lighting, demonstrating how they support visual narratives. Additionally, he will share practical examples from his experience on major productions to help you understand how to build powerful visual stories. These sessions will be available both in-person and online.
Hands-on practice (in-person only)
In the afternoons, hands-on practice sessions will take place. These are a continuation of the morning sessions, where Mark will personally supervise the application of the skills learned through tasks he has designed. These exercises will provide a storyboard artist with all the tools needed to elevate their visual storytelling. These sessions will only be held in person.
MARK ANDREWS
ANIMATOR, DIRECTOR AND SCREENWRITER
Mark Andrews is a renowned filmmaker, screenwriter, and director, known for his versatility and creative vision. Most recently, he released the Netflix original series "Super Giant Robot Brothers" in 2022, the first animated series created in Unreal Engine. As the co-director of Disney Pixar’s Oscar and Golden Globe-winning film "Brave," Mark has left a significant mark on the industry.
With over two decades at Pixar, he worked as Head of Story on acclaimed films such as "The Incredibles" and "Ratatouille," and co-wrote and co-directed the Oscar-nominated short film "One Man Band." He also served as Second Unit Director and co-writer on Disney's "John Carter".
An Emmy winner for his work on "Star Wars: Clone Wars" and an Annie Award winner for "The Iron Giant," Mark has contributed to projects such as "Marvel’s What If...?", "Primal," and "Samurai Jack." Described by colleagues as a "force of nature," he is recognized for his unique ability to combine impactful storytelling with innovative visuals.

Open Conferences
On Friday morning, two free conferences will take place until capacity is reached. One will be led by director and animator Rodrigo Blaas, creative director and co-founder of El Guiri Studios, and an additional talk will be given by Mark Andrews on Storytelling & Virtual Production. Workshop participants and Voxel School students will have priority access.
Rodrigo Blaas
Director, animator, and executive producer
Rodrigo Blaas is a director, animator, and executive producer. He began his career at Blue Sky Studios in 2000, working on "Ice Age," and spent 9 years at Pixar, contributing to successes like "Up" and "Finding Nemo." In Los Angeles, he collaborated with Guillermo del Toro on the Emmy-winning animated series "Trollhunters: Tales of Arcadia." He also worked on "3Below" and "Wizards," part of the Tales of Arcadia universe. He is currently collaborating with DreamWorks TV Animation.
Rodrigo is also the co-founder and creative director of El Guiri Studios, an animation studio specializing in direction, development, and production of front-end projects. They have worked on productions such as "The Incredibles," "Wall-E," "Ratatouille," and "Cars," and recently created a short film for "Star Wars: Visions S2," directed by Blaas.
Entry Requirements
To fully benefit from the course, candidates interested in the practical sessions must provide documentation proving the following:
Previous professional experience as part of a storyboard team in a current production.
If you do not have this experience, you will need to present a portfolio or work related to drawing and storyboarding.

Complete Workshop - 480€ Includes all workshops and hands-on practice sessions with Mark Andrews. Limited to 20 spots.
Workshop without Hands-on practice - 280€ Includes only the workshops, limited to 50 spots.
The course will be taught entirely in English.
